Maya Moon moves to Lake Atitl án. The deepest lake in Central America and a mysterious place that is profoundly connected to the Mayan culture. The view of Volcano San Pedro from San Pablo, Lake Atitl á n. Maya Moon began in Antigua Guatemala, during the height of the pandemic in 2020. I had intended to visit Guatemala for only three weeks to improve my Spanish in Antigua and to relax a little at Lake Atitl á n. Before I was living in Costa Rica, but I neither made it back to my previous life there nor the lake because the entire country went into lockdown just one week after my arrival in March and the airports closed quickly. Originally, Guatemala started out as a scary place that I was so desperate to leave and now, I can't think of anywhere else that I want to be. It's extraordinary how life unfolds in mysterious ways that you could never dream were possible and to what paths and places, fate will encourage you to follow.
